Heading into the holiday season is exciting for families and businesses alike – but we know that not everyone shares that same reality.
In a typical year, it’s estimated that food insecurity impacts 1 in 9 Americans with communities of color and rural communities hit the hardest (which only intensified with COVID-19).
Last year, we launched our first-ever Vendr Volunteers effort to give back to the communities we live in by donating over $9,000 to local food banks. This year, we continued that tradition in our second annual donation drive to Feeding America, exceeding our goal to support food banks, food pantries, and meal programs around the country.

About Feeding America
What is food insecurity? Food insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in a household to live an active, healthy life.

As the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, Feeding America touches 200 food banks and 60,000 pantries and meal programs. They’ve assisted in food rescue, disaster response (including tornado-affected communities in the South and Midwest today), and hunger research for over 40 years.
With COVID-19 impacting that number significantly over the past couple of years, Feeding America is on a mission to build a better future for families and communities more than ever before, specifically for families, children, and senior citizens in Black, Latinx, and Native American communities.
Vendr’s pledge to help end hunger
Our goal this year was to raise $10,000 between November 15th and December 15th. On top of personal donations, we pledged to donate $1 as a company for every $1,000 we saved our customers on SaaS during this 30-day challenge.
Where’d we land? This year we raised a total of $18,142 (over double from last year’s!), with a breakdown of $12,497 in company pledge savings and $5,645 in personal donations!
The impact: 217,704 pounds of food donated. Every dollar donated to Feeding America allows them to secure and distribute at least 12 pounds of food (10 average-sized meals).

Heading into the holidays – and the years to come
Heading into the holidays can be a daunting time, especially in the wake of COVID-19 where unemployment and food insecurity dramatically increased.
Showing up for our customers and our communities is core to our mission at Vendr – and partnering with Feeding America was a no-brainer to help those affected the most. As a Vendr Volunteers pledge, we’re committed to continuing this tradition for years and years to come.
